Photo-story: In Rio
One more of my photo-stories, this time after our characters have reunited, and they are trying to escape the chase of the Council by moving through the modern times unnoticed.
This is the story of Tamzyn, the dryad, and Sioul, the Lord of Time, a wizard that can control time and space.
GOING TO RIO
When you are a wizard that controls time, there's not much that you cannot do. You may die by a shot of a gun, or a surprise attack, but not other things.
You can also move between places, and moments, take back what you wanted and lost, and maybe your worst enemy is yourself.
But no more, because now I want to live the present, because in the present, I have her.
So as everything was cold, in the middle of winter, I told her:
-- Tamzyn, why don't we go to a place where it's sunny, and have some nice days there?
She jumped, cheerful, kissed my cheek, and was immediately preparing the bags.
Ok, there's no magic involved, as we just got two plane tickets to Rio de Janeiro.
We could have opened a portal to go there, but taking the plane is more fun. It's many hours away from Europe, but we talked about things, read some book, and just stayed together.
After some hours, she was a bit tired, though.
When we arrived, we took some pic like this, with Sugarloaf mountain at the background.
The houses piled up in the sides of the mountains and hills, with their white facades contrasting with the green of trees.
On the hotel room's balcony, she felt good again, and so happy for being in a country she never was before. It's hard to surprise a dryad that is 300 years old. But she's just so kind and easy.
We visited the monument of Christ on Sugarloaf Mountain. She was amazed of the huge size of the statue and its presence. And then we went to the most obvious place, the beach.
THE BEACH
Got lots of bikinis for her. She didn't ask for them, probably because she doesn't care wearing anything. But there are rules we have to follow, so I got some for her so she feels as pretty as she is.
We avoided the crowded beaches and discovered a nice little one between the trees some miles south. On the dying light of sunset, with the orange of the sun and the blue of the sea painting over her silky skin, this image of her got forever into my mind:
She looked like some kind of feline, like a panther, with her feminine shapes so inviting and bold. And that sweet face, the face of a woman, the candor of a young one, and the intelligent eyes of a mature one, and a color in them that doesn't exist in any woman. If you see that color in some, they are dryads.
We kissed and stayed on the sand, listening to the silence, with her in my arms. I asked her if she would love me if she was a normal woman, and I was just a man.
"I think all would be the same, but we may have less time to be together. And more problems."
I think I agree. If when we love somebody, we just could just stop time in that same moment, and not care about anything else, not having to fight for survival... In that moment, love is easy.
She loves sunset and sunrise, and avoids the middle part of the day. So on the following days, we went to the different beaches at those moments.
As a creature of the mist and undefined shadows of the forest, it's natural.
"I may stay here with you forever" , she said.
But we have to leave at some point, Tamzyn. I can only stop time for a moment, as other people's lives have to continue. We can't stay in paradise forever.
Even if we can, we need to study the books, free underground realms from evil, visit the other world, and we can't get bored of each other this way.
It's something that makes every instant more precious: life continues and we don't want it to continue, at the same time. We want to stop it, and stay here, in the meaningful moment that you look into my eyes.
Good moments are lost fast, but they live in memory forever.
THE CITY
Our hotel was on the top of one of the hills. The houses around it looked very similar to other cities, but with nice views of the sea.
I noticed she was a bit tense, like waiting for something bad to happen. I asked her, and she just said she was perceiving danger. We just walked a bit on the streets, and then got back to the hotel.
At the room she relaxed more. It was in the twelve floor of the building.
We watched the sun setting on the horizon from that room, hugging each other. It was like a giant gold coin in a blue water pond.
As other nights, she was like ivy growing around me, and I was the intruder that drank from the water of the sacred temple of this goddess. Two lost souls, two bodies that hungrily take from each other until they fall asleep and exhausted.
THE SORCERER
On the following morning, we packed our bags, ready to leave. I told Tamzyn to go to the reception and wait for me, as I forgot, as usual, something in the room.
When I was in it again, opened the door and found a dark figure of a man sitting in the middle of the room.
"Sioul, you have to desist from your adventures with that creature", he said.
"Do you mean her? Are you telling me, really?"
"I am Sardegor from the Council of Sorcerers, and we don't approve that a wizard and a dryad are together. Yours is a too powerful association, that unbalances the magic reality".
"You may have told me before I became a Lord of Time, Sardegor."
He frowned, and his attitude, which was quite paternalistic, changed to aggressive.
"Even being that, you have to follow some rules. The rest of us, the sorcerers, will not tolerate your attitude. You have to give us an answer to our concerns, or we..."
"Here's your damn answer!", I shouted, and sent a flame blast against him.
He waved her arm and sent the flame to the wall behind him.
Then I started to cast a more dangerous one. Space was cracking between my hands and the room started to tremble like undulating with a ripple that distorted reality.
His eyes seemed to pop out of his cranium in horror, and just when I was going to release my attack, he disappeared.
I ran downstairs, took Tamzyn's hand in mine, and jumped into a taxi.
TAKE ME AWAY
Without much explanations, I told him to take us to a nearby village where no tourists go. It was a quite posh one, with many luxurious boats. We just rented a smaller boat, and told Tamzyn to wear a bikini like a tourist or a casual traveler. I just removed my clothing and wore a swimsuit and a towel on my shoulder.
I started the engine and our boat was sliding over the small waves.
"We have to leave to an unexpected place, my nymph. To a place where they can't find us. For now we will just do as normal people. We'll get lost.", I said.
Her deep green, almost black eyes, were calm as a warrior she is, ready to kill. Confident and caring as a brave woman. Sharp and hard as the blade of a sword, and sweet as the most beautiful flower. The duality of a nymph.
"We will fight them, whoever they are", she said.
The boat's shape disappeared in the night on a sea in blue shades.
Stay tuned for future stories! Let's follow our two lovers through the fantasy and the modern world.
