WIP: Red warrior and manual painting process video
A manual part of my process. Remember that I start from a sketch, or an image, fueled to generative engine, but based on my own model, Tamzyn, and my own imaginary painter styles.
That's why you don't see similar things out there. I encourage everyone to use these generative tools as what they should be: tools, and create your own styles, concepts, and worlds, instead of using others. It is more creative and will really express what you have inside, this way.
Then it will surely need some mix with manual work, and back to generate, several times, until the image I get is good enough.
Then comes the full manual process, shown here. It's painting on Rebelle 7 Pro, that imitates natural painting. Try not to undo, just paint over your mistakes, and that helps improving very much.
Generative engines are great for learning to paint. I have improved very much by watching how it solves problems, and in this moment I can do things better than it by hand, so I just keep the painted parts without re-rendering them, many times.
The final preview is only a WIP as I will continue detailing the clothing and hands. But it is similar to varnish on traditional, as it is increasing the saturation and adjusting levels in digital.
This is a sort of hybrid art, mixing old techniques and new tools. It may be possible by traditional tools, but would require a lifetime, and to be a kind of superman. With the new tools only, it's just impossible -they are too cold, wild, random. It's also impossible without the presence of Tamzyn, who imprints maybe a 50% of the work.
Will this be the future of art? No, I think art is mainly on traditional painting.
Digital art has become too cold and all the same, becoming a craft and not creation.
But some will surely mix traditional and generative as I am doing, in different ways and degrees, or at least as reference and inspiration.
Others will just keep doing what they do.
I already said, that art is art, and there is no future or past on it. It just is. I think this is a good way of doing this, and just wanted to share it.
